How To Be Truly Happy

I always thought if I could just make enough money or get the best job that pays well, I would be truly happy.

Well, my focus was all wrong. Dwelling in the past or in the future, is a trap, that many of us fall into. As I discovered, my happiness has to come from within, by looking at what I have, not what I don’t. Our happiness comes by taking each day, and enjoying life. After all, there is a lot of unhappy rich people.

Let me explain. When my kids were little, I kept working hard for enough money for that perfect house etc. I did finally get a 5 bedroom, 3 bath home, but when one of my kids got very sick, I lost my 5 bedroom home that I worked so hard to get.

Now, I live in a single wide trailer home, and I couldn’t be happier.

I have discovered the key to true happiness. “I’m focused on what I have”, not the past or the future.

I have a wonderful family. They are far from perfect, but I couldn’t love them more. Yes, we have drama, like all families do.

My daughter Sarah, Granddaughter Jenna, & Me

I have a decent job, with people who have a heart for nursing and care about our veterans. Even with work, there is good and bad. I focus on making others happy, and focus on helping give the best quality to their lives as I can.

Yes, I have dreams. I would love to have a 5 bedroom, 3 bath, 3 car garage home some day, with a wonderful play area and swimming pool, but even without that dream, I’m the richest person in the world. I have wonderful people who truly care about me.

So to be happy, take each day as a gift. Remember tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.
