How Do I Know What My Strengths & Weaknesses Are?

Start with making a list. It’s going to focus on what you believe to be your strengths in one column, the next column will be your weaknesses.

Don’t focus on the negative. We all have weaknesses. this is just a tool to help you grow.

I work as a nurse, but I’m also an Avon representative. I feel I’m skilled in both, but I always have improvement to make. So I take pride in my strengths. Don’t beat yourself up over what you think are major flaws, and don’t overestimate how great your strengths are. Just write them down, and move on.

The purpose of this list will be to start off with some general ideas that you have about yourself, and then get input from other sources to help you refine your list.

Ask yourself:

1)What am I good at?

2) What have others complimented me about?

3)What have others had to help me with on more than one occasion?

4)Which projects and tasks seem to drain my energy?

5)Which projects have I spent hours on without getting

6)What are my hobbies, and why do I like doing them?

After assessing yourself, then ask others who your close to & trust, for their opinions. Have a cup of coffee with them or even email them the questions. What ever works best for you.

Having others opinions will help you see yourself from a different point of view.

It’s always important to be honest. You may want to ask your friend or family member that you trust, if they feel there is something that you can improve on.

Remember, this is constructive criticism, not meant to make you feel condemned.

As you receive feedback, start adding more details to your two lists. You’ll start to see that some of the strengths and weaknesses you listed are confirmed by those you trust, while others that you listed aren’t as significant to the people who have spent time with you.

Try taking a personality test to find your strengths and weakness. There’s a lot out there. If you would like to try one of free, this one does offer a free test-> ““.

Remember, your in charge of your own destiny.
